DEC SuperScan II Special Features
PC Software
The SuperScan II software can be installed on any PC (desktop or laptop) running a Windows 9x or better (Win 98, 98SE, Me, XP, 2000, NT) operating system. Minimum requirements is a Pentium II processor and one free serial RS-232 or USB port. Visualization of vehicle and diagnosis data on a PC screen is far more understandable and richer than a small LCD screen. The user interface is very simple though very powerful for the inexperienced PC user.
EOBD (European Onboard Diagnostics)
This protocol is a unification of a reduced set of diagnostic functions. It allows very basic diagnosis on most European vehicles manufactured after 2000, all US vehicles manufactured after 1996 and some Asian vehicles manufactured after 1998.
Bluetooth
This is a wireless solution for connecting external devices to a Bluetooth equipped PC. Users can roam around the workshop and diagnose any car without the need to connect the SuperScan II to their PC. Standard range is between 30 and 50 meters (100m maximum performance).
USB (Universal Serial Bus)
DEC SuperScan II has a USB 1.1 communications port (as well as one RS-232 port) allowing trouble free connection to virtually any new desktop or laptop PC.
Monthly Updates
This allows SuperScan II users to update often by downloading from the DEC website. Their policy is not to wait for very big updates (with many new systems), but to release software as soon as new features and systems are available.
Technical Support
DEC Automotive are fully dedicated to their customers and they have an efficient and fast technical support system. DEC Automotive offers their customers several ways of contact (phone, fax, email, online).
Internet Downloads
Internet is the fastest and most economical way of staying connected to the world. No matter where in the world DEC Automotive Tools clients are, DEC Automotive can provide fast update services through their website.
CAN BUS
Because more and more manufacturers are using CAN for onboard communications, and also for diagnosis, DEC Automotive have included in the DEC SuperScan II three types of CAN buses; High Speed, Fault Tolerant and Single Wire. This meets all past, current and future requirements for CAN implementations in vehicles.
Original Connectors
DEC Automotive provides with the system the original connectors for the different diagnostic sockets. This guarantees that there are no faulty connections and problems.
Digital Scope
The DEC SuperScan II is equipped with an internal two channel scope. This is a very useful extra tool to perform measurements on components that may have been previously detected faulty using the scanner function.
Firmware Update
The SuperScan II interfaces several high tech integrated circuits including a RISC microprocessor and FLASH memory to store firmware. It is no longer necessary to physically replace components or EEPROM memory to add additional functionality or adapt the interface to new needs. Users can simply re-flash (download new software) to the SuperScan II with new downloaded updates.
12 / 24 Volt Power Supply
DEC Automotive also includes a 8 to 35 volts power supply system to the DEC SuperScan II allowing for development, in the near future, diagnostic software for trucks and heavy duty vehicles.
