DEC SuperScan II

With the new model DEC SuperScan, DEC Automotive Diagnostic Tools have achieved the integration of these three necessary tools for technicians:

» Multi-Make Automotive Scanner
» 2 channel Scope
» CAN Network Analyser

By means of a simple connection to the vehicles diagnostic socket, you will see on your PC screen, in a very clear and simple way, all the fault codes and live data of the different systems on the vehicle.

On any system like Petrol or Diesel injection, Airbag, ABS, Comfort Systems, Immobilizer, Climatronics, Body Computer, Power Steering, Electronic Dashboard, Tire Pressure Control, etc., you will be able to perform nearly the same functions as the original manufacturers scantool. This includes fault codes reading and erasing, parameter reading (live data), Component activation and Control Unit programming and configuration.

Programming functions are of special interest to now-a-days technicians, because most new Control Units (ECU) require some type of reprogramming after replacement, or configuration for adequate functioning. Also some ECU's allow user customizations which are only available through special programming functions. Ignition key coding is also of great importance and can be done in most cases with the SuperScan.

The SuperScan system has both hardware and software. The hardware is an intelligent electronic interface that handles all communications between the vehicle and the software. The software handles all diagnostic functions and displays all the processed data on the PC screen. Software modules are grouped in "sister" marques like Peugeot-Citroen or Opel-Vauxhall. Check the application list for further information.Software modules can be bought separately, and more can be added later. This allows technicians to build a system adequate to their needs.

» PC Software
The software can be installed on any PC (desktop or laptop) running a Windows 9x or better (Win 98, 98SE, Me, XP, 2000, NT) operating system. Minimum requirements is a Pentium II processor and one free serial RS-232 or USB port. Visualization of vehicle and diagnosis data on a PC screen is far more understandable and richer than a small LCD screen. The user interface is very simple though very powerful for the inexperienced PC user. (SEE: DOWNLOAD DEMO - 2.77MB Flash)

» EOBD (European Onboard Diagnostics)
This protocol is a unification of a reduced set of diagnostic functions. It allows very basic diagnosis on most European vehicles manufactured after 2000, all US vehicles manufactured after 1996 and some Asian vehicles manufactured after 1998.

» USB (Universal Serial Bus)
DEC SuperScan II has a USB 1.1 communications port (as well as one RS-232 port) allowing trouble less connection to virtually any new desktop or laptop PC.

» Bluetooth
This is a revolutionary wireless solution for connecting external devices to a Bluetooth equipped PC! You can roam around your workshop and diagnose any car without the need to connect the SuperScan to your PC!! Standard range is between 30 and 50 meters -100m maximum performance.

» Monthly Updates
This allows customers to update often by downloading from the DEC website. Their policy is not to wait for very big updates (with many new systems), but to release software as soon as new features and systems are available!

» Technical Support
DEC are fully dedicated to their customers and they have an efficient and fast technical support system. DEC offers their customers several ways of contact (phone, fax, email, online).

» Internet Downloads
Internet is the fastest and most economical way of staying connected to the world. No matter where in the world DEC Automotive Tools customers are, DEC can provide fast update services through their website.

» CAN BUS
Because more and more manufacturers are using CAN for onboard communications, and also for diagnosis, DEC have included in this new product three types of CAN buses;High Speed, Fault Tolerant and Single Wire. This meets all past, current and future requirements for CAN implementations in vehicles.

» Original connectors
DEC provides with the system the original connectors for the different diagnostic sockets. This guarantees that there are no faulty connections and problems.

» Digital Scope
The new DEC SuperScan II has an internal two channel scope. This is a very useful extra tool to perform measurements on components that you previously detected faulty using the scanner function.

» Firmware Update
This interface several high tech integrated circuits including a RISC microprocessor and FLASH memory to store firmware. It is no longer necessary to physically replace components or EEPROM memory to add additional functionality or adapt the interface to new needs! You can simply re-flash (download new software) to the SuperScan with new downloaded updates!

» 12 / 24 Volt Power Supply
DEC also includes a 8 to 35 volts power supply system to the DEC Superscan II allowing ufor development, in the near future, diagnostic software for trucks and heavy duty vehicles.
